The top 10 movies of anime

In: Interesting

9 Dec 2009

Whether you’re a fan of Japanese animation or that person’s face twists in the anime, some anime movies are indispensable. Fleeing or reinventing the cliches the Japanese, the works transcend their own culture and language and become a universal plot.

Again, this list is not in order of importance, since all films are recommended. In brackets is the year of release of each animation. No more serious talk, put your bandana, select the session and Gyodai:

My Neighbor Totoro (1988)
This children’s story is at the same time, charming and exciting treat for fantasy with a lack of mother in a family that settled in the field.

The Tomb of Fireflies (1988)
Tells the story of two boys orphaned during the Second World War. Touching and very well conducted, excites much more than war drama produced by Hollywood.

Paprika (2006)
A device that allows you to enter the dreams of another person creates a work almost schizo on the subject. Watch paying attention to details and expect the best of nonsense. An instant classic.

Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (2001)
Little Chihiro enters a magical world to save his parents from a spell. A different plot, with a protagonist struggling and strong, even as a child. No wonder it won the Oscar.

Gen – Barefoot (1983)
Thrilling adaptation of the manga of the same name, shows the life of Gen and family after the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima. Despite the cartoony style, the film contains graphic scenes of destruction.

Akira (1988)
Located in a Tokyo dominated by gangs, the film deals with superpowers uncontrolled anger, medical ethics and a multitude of philosophical questions. Worth reading the manga, which moves beyond the end proposed by the animation.

Perfect Blue (1997)
A singer tries to become an actress, as a fan of balance begins to chase it. Shows the dark side of being a celebrity and some surprises in the end.

Evangelion Movie (1997)
It is actually two films (The End Of Evangelion), referring to the end of the TV series Neon Genesis Evangelion. Watch it is prerequisite to understand the movie, or try to understand. Anyway, a fragmented narrative with messages in various levels of depth (especially for a show).

Tokyo Godfathers (2003)
Three homeless people find an abandoned baby and try to take care of the child, while searching for his true parents. A story of redemption, apart from showing a real reality, but little shown, the Japanese society.

Ghost in the Shell (1995)
Apparently, only a drawing action, Ghost in the Shell was before Matrix Matrix exists. Consciousness and the right machines, ethics and politics are distilled into a futuristic setting, but quite plausible.

And for you, what are the anime movies most striking of all time and why?
